Mozilla announced Sunday it will launch handsets running its new Firefox mobile operating system, pitting itself directly against Apple and Google. My first thought was,awe and surprise that Firefox was entering uncharted waters and was eager to see what was all this about.

Background

History

Firefox OS (sometimes abbreviated FxOS) is a new mobile operating system developed by Mozilla. It uses a Linux kernel and boots into a Gecko-based runtime engine, which lets users run applications developed entirely using HTMLJavaScript, and other open web application APIs.

But according to the CTO he said “Mozilla was never about taking over the market”,but more about low cost, Web-based alternative to iOS and Android.Which is probably a very Great argument and probably right For example:

At the  MWC 2013  cnet had a nice Demo version of the Geeksphone peak .

Specs

  • 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor
  • 4.3-inch 960×540-pixel multi touch screen
  • 8-megapixel rear-facing camera
  • 2-megapixel front camera
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 4GB of flash memory
  • microSD and Micro-USB ports
  • a GPS receiver
  • 1,800mAh battery( a little Disappointing)

According to CNET The hardware had a nice heft and polish to it, with a feel that reminded them of Nokia’s Lumia Windows phone models.

Final version

Now the Final Version (developers edition)that is now available  has the Following specs:

  • CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 8225 1.2Ghz x2.

ZTE,Alcatel also seem eager to join the Firefox Bandwagon with their release of Handsets like the;

ZTE OPEN that is rumored to running a Cortex A5 processor, has a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display, and is reminiscent of Android phones from several years ago.

ONE TOUCH  FIRE  this entry-level phone is basically a rehash of the budget One Touch T’Pop announced back at CES, packing a 3.5-inch HVGA TN display, a 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 512MB storage and a 3.2-megapixel camera. There are also the usual bunch of radios: WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, FM radio and UMTS 900/2100 and 850/1900/2100 (up to 7.2Mbps for download and 5.76Mbps for upload). Underneath the removable 1,400mAh battery you’ll find a microSD slot that’ll take anything up to 32GB (a 2GB card is included), as well as a slot for an old-school Mini-SIM card.

ANDROID GEEKS 4.1 VS 4.2

I was perusing  Android Authority  and came across a great article that breaks it down, even for  the novice Android user or the Expert mode User.Interesting Features Have been added, and yours only cannot wait to get on my Phone.Should be interesting to see how the malware scanner on Play Store plays(no pun intended) out.Hopefully its a smooth experience(buttery).Enough of my banter, click on the link Below….
