Are you having a BLU week?

As many of you already know by now BLU a company based in Miami Florida that boasts over 35 Million Devices sold worldwide was caught in the crosshairs of Kryptowire a Security Company,a company  Jump started by DARPA and DHS S&T .KryptoWire stated that it had identified several models of Android mobile devices that contained firmware that collected sensitive personal data about their users and transmitted this sensitive data to third-party servers without disclosure or the users consent. These devices were available through major US-based online retailers (Amazon, BestBuy, for example) and included popular smartphones such as the BLU R1 HD.

According to Kryptowire the Personally identifiable Informations included information such as : full-body of text messages, contact lists, call history with full telephone numbers, unique device identifiers including the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) and the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI).According to Kryptowire the monitoring activities took place using a commercial Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update software system that was shipped with the Android devices we tested and were managed by a company named Shanghai Adups Technology Co. Ltd.

As Expected,Adups has assured BLU, Google, and their customers that any of the unintentionally collected data has been destroyed. In any case The Following Models of Phones are shown to have been infected:

LE ECO OOPSIE!!

It Seems that LeEco might have inadvertently leaked whats being launched on October 19th.

According to  Sources at Android Police the Following is what is going to be revealed:

A WORLD WITHOUT MICROSOFT/REPLACED BY LINUX

INTRODUCTION

Is it possible to “live off the grid” so to speak without Microsoft? Does this strike Fear when you think about how much Microsoft has an influence on you and me?

Microsoft has had such a powerful influence on this Planet since its inception in November 20th 1985 with Windows 1.0 Until Recently on July 29th 2015 with Windows 10. Practically every Company runs a flavor of Windows Server. In fact some schools of thought say that in fact it accounts for about 32.1 % of the world. The question then remains is it impossible to live without Microsoft Platform.I guess you can say it’s like asking someone whether they want “coke” or “Pepsi”.

Ubuntu comes to mind as the first choice if one was to live without Microsoft Environment. I have had the pleasure of using Ubuntu since version 8.0 and it was hell to be honest , driver incompatibilities and finding Machines that worked out of the box. Cue in Ubuntu 14.0 LTS and I was pleasantly surprised with how its matured and it was a breeze to install. One cannot ignore the potential this has.In fact companies like HPI and Dell as well as Lenovo have partnered to bring Ubuntu to Commercial and Retail Laptops. What attracted me to Ubuntu as a Live of Grid Option was he suite of free software that ships with Ubuntu is quite robust — the free OpenOffice.org, for example, is an excellent alternative to Microsoft Office. Enough of my mutterings though is it Possible for Entire nations or Departments to go on an entire blackout of Microsoft and live to tell the story?
You might be surprised to learn that Governments at all levels (national, state, federal and international) have opted to deploy Linux across their computer systems for a host of reasons. Some are purely technological, with the governments in question preferring the open-source benefits of the OS. Others are financial, as Linux is typically far less expensive than buying a license for Windows. Still others are political, as organizations like the World Trade Organization have actively pressured governments to shun Microsoft products. In any case, here are some of the governing bodies in for example that now run Linux on their computers.

LINUX USERS IN GOVERNMENT

Department of Defense
According to Linux.com, the United States Department of Defense is the “single biggest install base for Red Hat Linux” in the world. Nor was it an unconscious choice, as Brigadier General Nick Justice, the Deputy Program Officer for the Army’s Program Executive Office proclaims “open source software is part of the integrated network fabric which connects and enables our command and control system to work effectively, as people’s lives depend on it.” Justice went on to state that “when we rolled into Baghdad, we did it using open source”, and that he was indeed Red Hat’s “biggest customer.”
US Navy Submarine Fleet
FreeSoftwareMagazine.com reveals that “the US Navy nuclear submarine fleet is using GNU/Linux” as well.
The City of Munich in Germany
Spain
State-Owned Industrial and Commercial Bank of China
Essentially, Linux became “the basis for its web server and a new terminal platform” at the bank.
Cuba
According to Caribbean Net News, the switch to Linux was motivated not by technology or cost issues, but instead constituted “the latest front of the communist island’s battle against what it views as U.S. hegemony.” Nova was introduced during a conference held in the name of “technological sovereignty” and was touted as essential to Cuba’s “desire to replace the Microsoft software running most of the island’s computers.” Evidently, Cuban officials feared that U.S. security agencies could access Microsoft software code and in the process discover secrets belonging to the Cuban government. Whether or not Cuba’s switch to Linux has any practical effect on relations between the two countries is debatable, but they have been using Nova ever since.

LINUX USERS IN INDUSTRY

Google
Google appears to run a customizes version of Ubuntu called Goobuntu. Linux is also frequently used internally on desktop machines, beyond its use on Google servers.
IBM
In addition to doing development work on Linux itself, IBM is known to use it internally on desktops and servers. IBM also ran a TV ad campaign in 2006 called “IBM Supports Linux 100%.” In the last decade, perhaps no larger company than IBM has contributed more to the success of Linux, both financially and developmentally.
Conoco Phillips
According to Alan Huffman, then manager of Conoco’s seismic imaging technology center, claimed that the machine was capable of performing 500 billion calculations in a second. C-Net’s News.com reported in depth on the machine, which, largely due to using Linux, reportedly “costs a tenth of the average price of a conventional supercomputer.”

It was not long ago when Microsoft Windows had a tight stranglehold on the operating system market. Walk into a Circuit City or Staples, it seemed, and virtually any computer you took home would be running the most current flavor of Windows. Ditto for computers ordered direct from a manufacturer. In the last decade, though, the operating system market has begun to change. Slightly more than 5% of all computers now run Mac, according to NetMarketShare.com. Linux is hovering just beneath 1% of the overall market share in operating systems. And although that might sound like a small number, Linux is far more than just a fringe OS. In fact, it’s running in quite a few more places than you probably suspect.

MOVADO MEETS HP

Well a while back we heard that HP had Engineered a watch with Movado(Not the singer).

Movado has been Synonymous with artistry, innovation and craftsmanship, Movado has been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of modern design and elevating the art of fine watchmaking to a fine art form since its founding in Switzerland in 1881.

According to HP,the Engineered by HP means that its  is infusing innovative materials, design and custom technology into the style of the devices you love, to make them more connected and responsive to the way you live. The Watch Works with both iOS (8+) and Android (4.4+). Exceptional performance with up to one week of battery life for smart functions. A beautiful water-resistant watch that’s always on.

Well now they have two designs out, namely t the MOVADO BOLD MOTION BLACK/STRAP and    shown Below.

HOW TO OPERATE THE WATCH

The Movado BOLD Motion has a button (1) on the left side of the case that controls the watch functions. Press it once to change the watch view. The views display in the following order: analog, progress tracker status, digital battery status, Bluetooth status. Analog view is displayed by default, and the watch returns to analog view after five seconds of inactivity.

The crown (2) is located on the right side of the case and is used only to set the time.

SETTING THE TIME

  • Gently pull the crown button on the Right hand side out to position (2); the seconds hand stops moving.
  • 2.Rotate the crown in either direction to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time.
  • 3.Push the crown back into position (1); the seconds hand restarts.

Notifications alerts working  by flashing the  glowing Ring found at the top of Both watches. You will get notfication like

  • Calendar Reminders
  • Priority Calls and Texts
  • Active Goals i.e daily step over a week or Months.

The Watch on the Left features;

  • Ceramic Bead Blasted Black Ion-Plated Case
  • Transparent Reflector w/Matte Ring
  • Transparent matte Dot Ring
  • Polished Black Ion-Plated Bezel
  • Rhonda 763 analog movement
  • Matte Black Medical Grade Silicone strap
  • Includes custom USB charger

The Watch on the Right Features;

  • Ceramic Bead Blasted Stainless Steel Case
  • Transparent Reflector w/LUMI Color Ring
  • Transparent Dot Ring with LUMI
  • Polished Black Ion-Plated Bezel
  • Rhonda 763 analog movement
  • Matte Black Medical Grade Silicone strap
  • Includes custom USB charger

For the folks who want technical details these are listed below,Sorry ladies seems that there is not a Women’s Version yet:

movado details.

The Movado Watch does contain   two batteries. One battery controls the digital functions of the watch and can be recharged. The other battery controls the analog functions of the watch and is not rechargeable, which is a bummer. The  Replacement of either battery—for the analog or the digital functions—requires service from a Movado Authorized Service Center. For locations, visitwww.mgiservice.com/movado.  Before you set up the watch, charge it for at least two hours. When the battery that controls digital functions is fully charged, it should last five to seven days with minimal use. That is  amazing but the use of minimal use is always relative  to each user and i always take it with a grain of Salt.I do not have a watch to test so cannot give you an accurate answer.

The Final Piece is the BOLD App(currently at version 1.1) that you download either from Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store.Movado states that should work on devices with 4.4 and upwards or IOS 8 or higher.

The custom USB Charger prices at 19.95 USD  which is cheap considering that Both Watches are currently   Priced at 695 USD,which in my opinion is going to have a hard time selling on the market  when the Huawei Watch Black stainless steel goes for 449 USD currently and have Proper Smart Watches retailing for about 150.00 USD.

Warranty is a limited 2 Year warranty, that anyone ought to read if and when you decide to Purchase one.

Leave comments on what you think about the Time Piece.be Sure to check out the Official Youtube Video below

Huawei P8 Lite First Impressions

The Phone in my opinion Feels premium without being pretentious.

The Candy Bar design is different  as compared to rounded edges but  makes for a thinner feel.

The faux metal finish bar surrounding it give it that Premium look.

The Sim and SD card slots are positioned well and they feel more sturdy than say my LG G2 one.

Volume is  Great on these device kudos o that.

The UI while MIUI like is Great, the launcher need some getting used to,just wish that there was a way to arrange  them for example Alphabetically.

Th layout is great for example love the lock screen they way it  slide upward to quickly view weather and shortcuts to calculator, flashlight and so on.

Theming is Great for non Themer Techies i miss that from MIUI days.

Knock to touch is great, way to go with that.

The Resolution is great for my eyes, tested it with some videos.

Sound equalizer would be an additional welcome.

Cant seem to Find  repeat and shuffle options in Music Player.

Disappointing that the video player could not play various  formats out of the Box.

Love the Data traffic management., ythe Protected apps options Motion Control is sweet as well only seen it in other chines phones and Oppo and the fact that it works Great is sweet.

Network using T-mobile is Great, call quality is clear, maybe  its T-mobile HD voice  added to that.

Bluetooth transfer of files works Great.Yet to test Bluetooth  Handset.

How they got it that Thin is amazing…

Please Note that Both SIM Slots support All Bands, unlike its competitors who have one SIM that will support 3G and the other LTE!!!

I would snag one for myself  and Friends and Families..at approx 249.00 Unlocked why DENY yourself the Pleasure of such a Good Bargain.
