Seems like there is some information missing, such as what they changed about it when filing their patent.
For example, the guitar, hair brush, door knob and golf tee are all much older than the 1800’s (most are ancient inventions) and the lawn mower was invented by a guy who died prior to the date listed for JA Burr inventing the same thing.
Same issues for stove, saddles, lanterns, locks, etc.
To the larger point, I’d agree that education is incredibly remiss when it comes to accurately teaching multicultural contributions to innovation and history in general.
